cryptic...

Happy Tuesday! I don't know, I'm in a good mood. Anyway, here's a cryptic collage of what I'm wearing today. I felt like I should wait until Spring to wear this vintage dress, but after rediscovering it in a suitcase last week, I just couldn't wait. So yes, I look a bit like Easter!

when i'm with you i have fun / my weekend outfit...

This became my weekend outfit. I don't exactly know how it became what I wore Saturday and today. Maybe it was just too easy and comfortable, but I do love collared shirts and blue and yellow are my favorite colors that I can never wear enough of.
This weekend we slept in, went to OMSI (the science museum in Portland), pretended to be Tesla, stood by the river at night, window shopped, ran some errands, ate delicious veggie burritos, cruised around town...its been fun. Also, I continued my closet(s) cleaning and found a few more items to put on Storenvy (hopefully by Tuesday at the latest).

past lives...

Well, I think that Spring cleaning bug caught up to me a bit early this year! I have been going through ll of my drawers and closets seeing what I can donate, sell, or remake. It's actually quite fun and a little funny when I come across an item from years back and think, "What the heck was I thinking? I must have been really brave the day I wore this!" Then, there are those items that you come across and can't believe you haven't worn more often. Like this dress!
Have a great weekend !!!
***Sorry the lighting isn't better, but I didn't open the windows for fear of having to explain to my gardening neighbor why I was taking photos of myself in the mirror!

Today's outfit...

So I may be all dressed up with nowhere to go, but hey, that's what makes life a little sweeter! It's actually not raining right now so I would use this outfit to at least do some window shopping or grab lunch around Portland, but that's just too tempting. I am not taking any chances! I don't know what got into me, but I spent a little more than I should have on a "few" items this morning while online. Not to mention my little trip to F21 yesterday! Anyway, this is what I'm wearing right now while browsing around some blogs and trying to avoid looking at the bank accounts.

Tele-photos...

Just wanted to share some of my recent instagram & telephotos.
Also, today was super fun! The Mr. brought home the most delicious raisin cookies, I did some shopping and found more tops with cute collars, and there was a pop-up movie theater at the mall playing Kung Fu Panda! My favorite:) Shopping while watching a movie was the best, but I still wish I had a shopping buddy around these parts.

Lavendar Sachet from Her Name Was Greta...

Here is the sweetest guest post from the sweetest lady! Enjoy!

Hi!
My name is Stina and I blog over at Her Name Was Greta and I'm thrilled Lilly gave me the opportunity to share this fun and quick tutorial with you!

We will be making a lavendar sachet today. They are great to place among your clothes and linens. It gives them both a fresh smell AND deters moths. Lavendar has a relaxing effect and I love picking out my clothes in the morning and inhaling that sweet fragrance. It's a great way to start your day, in my opinion.

I hope you will like this cute tutorial. Please, do share links or photos of your finished cupcake sachets, I'd love to see them!

First, https://rapidshare.com/files/471185376/Lavender_Cupcake_Sachet.pdf download the pattern from Rapidshare with the link above. Click the download button (under the hopping green arrow), ignore the wish to pay for a pro account and let it count down to 0, then click the download button again and it will start to download.
The PDF file includes the pattern as well as the tutorial for your convenience.
Materials Needed:
Dried lavender
Poly fill
Sharp, small scissors
Pins
Scrap fabric in 2 different colors
Thread
Small piece of ribbon or lace
Small beads

1. Cut out the 2 pieces from the pattern and pin them to your scrap fabric.
2. Cut 2 of each shape!
3. Lay the smaller shapes (the icing) on top of the larger pieces.

4. Sew the bottom of the icing to the larger piece. To keep the fabric from moving around, secure it with pins. Do the same to the other half of the cupcake.

5. Embellish wit beads to create the sprinkles!

6. Lay the 2 cupcake halves together, wrong sides facing each other, and sew around. Make sure to sew through all 4 layers. Sandwich your ribbon or lace between the layers on top and sew it in place.

7. Leave one of the sides open.

8. Take 1-2 tablespoons of the dried lavender and put it in your cupcake and lightly stuff with poly fill.

9. Sew the opening shut. Hang in your wardrobe or place in your drawer. Enjoy your fresh smelling clothes and linens!

Um... sorry about all the shop posts!

I promise this will be the last one for a while but I just wanted to share a glimpse of the dresses that have been added to the Piccadilly Lilly Storenvy.
Here's the deal...if I haven't worn it in a year (or ever) then it has to go! I think I'll add something every couple of weeks. Hope you find something you like!

new items...

I have added a few more items to both the Etsy shop and the thrift section in my Storenvy. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces! I would love to keep them, but would love it even more if someone else could enjoy them more! Also, my craft room has basically become a walk in closet with no room to walk!

le diable dans le details...

Yesterday was just a great day! I did some shopping, figured out how I want to organize & list my Storenvy & Etsy shops so that it much easier for me to keep track, and it snowed!! I was the most happy about that last one!

today's outfit...

The only thing I am sad about today is that I have to wear a big coat over my outfit. I love it. My vintage skirt was actually the most amazing vintage dress I discovered about 7 years ago at an antique store. Sadly (there may have been actual tears), I had to turn it into a skirt after it was ruined at a party. The top part was so ruined! I don't mind saying that I am a wizard at fixing and altering clothes, but this kind of disaster? There was no saving it. After a couple years in the back of my closet I decided the material was just too sweet to not be shown the light of day again. I think turning it into a skirt was the best choice I could have made given the extent of destruction. Now I can dress it up or down, like today, and it will always remind me of how much we enjoyed ourselves in our past lives. Lesson: take care of your one of a kind dresses, Lilly!!

1.13.2012

hello, again...

I have been very busy and maybe I have taken on some projects that I really didn't have the time for. I really like knowing that I have given each job, craft, project, my full attention. Since right now I feel like I haven't been able to do that, I guess I have to hold off on some of my personal projects like the Calamitous Heirs blog. Oh well, I wasn't very attached to it yet, but it really was a great idea...I think anyway!
Well...I don't think it is very healthy to cut out all personal endeavors so I would really love to do more outfit posts. I was doing good on that for a while, but then my camera was dropped in the rain (thanks Portland!) and it has never been the same. Now I am just left with my iphone, which does take good enough pictures, but I can't figure out how to take a good outfit photo with it. I don't have the pose/position right! I don't know. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions...
This isn't my favorite outfit, but it does make me
super happy I decided to crack open the old  T-shirt drawer...
This is just my clothes rack...
Also, are any of you dying (like me) to get your hands on the Jason Wu for Target items?!

tele-photos...

Well, since I adore spending hours looking at everyone's outfit & life photos on their blogs, it might only be fair to share some of mine. I usually take photos with instagram, outfit details and such, but not really the same as posting on a blog is it?

productive sunday...

Just wanted to let you in on a few things...
I added this cute pouch that I made to my Piccadilly Lilly shop. I rediscovered this dress that had somehow gotten lost in that back of my closet. I was excited about it..so I'm letting you know. I made a mess while working today. That necklace on the form is also in my shop. Lastly, I started writing journal entries on Calamitous Heirs,
